Write Your Own Story
You are not as powerless as you may feel, say, after a long day, or as you wake up on a chilly morning, already running late for your list of appointments and tasks.
Since an early age your story has been dictated by others, some kind and well meaning, some perhaps not. You’ve been told we’re this or that, convinced that your path or destiny is over there or around someone else’s corner.
So you’ve walked through the script, seldom aware that you are playing the part of a character you didn’t fully create. But along the way, your joyous, creative, divinely inspired little kid true self has tagged along. Now is the time to hand over the creative process that is your life to that vibrant soul.
Can you feel it? Imagine - or do it for real - that you are sitting in front of a blank notebook, holding your very favorite magical pencil. Begin writing, freely without judgement, just for your self, about who you are, where you’ve been, and where you are right now, today.
Then write about where you want to go, who you want to be, what you want to do - just let it flow, for fun, freely, lovingly, and without judgement.
Yeah!
Now comes the part where you turn your pencil around and use the eraser. You can erase everything in your past that doesn’t feel right, that isn’t the true you, that doesn’t help you move into the future your bright soul really wants for you.
OK! You’ve got the beginnings of the map. Your true self is starting to feel empowered and heard.
What are next steps? What’s a simple practical thing you can do that is congruent with the life YOU are now writing for yourself?
Keep dancing with it every day. This is your story. You have the power to write it for yourself. And don’t ever let anyone take away your magical pencil and notebook!
